Ten days to go and I’m already mentally packing for Glastonbury. In fact the van is already half-loaded with bedding, tinned food and the usual lanterns, and I’m eyeing the long-range weather forecast slightly anxiously. Also making a point of listening to some Bruce Springsteen on Spotify, just to help me enjoy The Boss when he headlines. Other highlights for us will be The Specials (we’re all big fans) and of course Neil Young. But it’s the unique Glasto vibe that keeps us coming back year after year. Who knows what our actual highlights will be this time around?
One thing I can’t get out of my mind is wet wipes. Five years ago, when we took our then one-year old to Glasto, we packed 17 packs of Huggies wipes. At the time I thought it was total overkill, but we found ourselves using them for everything from the inevitable toilet visit to wiping down plates before doing the washing up. Inevitably, on the final night, I remember listening to the unmistakable sound of Muse carried on the wind through several fields to our campervan, while we tried to change a horribly full nappy – only to realise that maybe 18 packs would have been a better idea. We’d run out.
Needless to say, with a six year old and a seven month old, we’ll be packing a LOT of wipes this year. We’ll still come home filthy though.
