Summer Breeze in Swindon

Locarno Beat

Locarno Beat

After the success of the Radio 1 Big Weekend, Swindon is hosting another music event at the opposite end of the scale. Summer Breeze Festival 2009 is a small music festival to be held on Saturday 4th July at Warren Farm, Liddington, just outside Swindon.

The day will see a mix of music from all different genres from local up and coming bands to those who are just about to make it in the music industry.  Bands include The Right Hooks, ska stars 360 and local heroes The Locarno Beat. For the full line-up and stage times, click here.

There will be a real ale bar, a glorious selection of foods, circus and theatre entertainment from Les Bicyclettes and a range of festival stalls.

The idea of this charity concert comes from Dennis and Lorna Ford (band member of Breeze). After losing a close friend they were eager to raise funds for two local charities close to their heart and came up with the idea of a festival in their back garden. All proceeds from the event will go to Prospect Hospice and Motor Neurone Disease.

This year’s event seems to have stepped up a gear with 13 acts playing throughout the day from Noon till Midnight.

Tickets are available online from www.summerbreeze09.co.uk or from the Wanborough Post Office. Tickets cost £10 for adults and £5 for under 14s. Under 5s are free.
