Vincent, aged seven, reports from the new festival kids’ club. (Read his mum’s review here.)
Selina was the boss she was really friendly, and before we even got there me and my mum had visitor passes to have a look around. I decided I wanted to come for a session. The tents were kind of like two massive Indian tents connected together. They were very cosy and they had a relaxing area, one of my favourite things. There were cushions, Beano comics and books.
When I was sorting out the wristbands I heard a baby cry and I know that cry anywhere. It was my little brother Louis. When I went around to the baby area I asked one of the adults what happened she answered that she wanted to change Louis and she took him out and laid him down. Ten minutes later he was asleep. I helped the adult to get Louis to sleep but only for about two minutes.
It was really cool. In the place where I was there was a stage, there was a projector, there was instruments. There was anything a child could ever dream for. They even had a guitar in the music set. I got to be the band manager and the drummer. And I was a singer. We sang Live and Let Die. The other kids were quiet nice actually but when one girl sat on the inflatable sofa with me I catapulted right off even though she was really light. There was one boy called Dylan about six years old he was okay. We got to watch Alvin and the Chipmunks and my favourite part was when Alvin was on the soap dispenser and he was pushing it down and he said ‘Dave likes to wear his dirty underwear.’ And my cutest part was when they were really scared from singing to different humans from Dave. I had my snack in the middle of the movie. I had to go to the toilet once and the toilets were squeaky clean. When I went outside it was so dark that I had to use my sonic screwdriver torch but it was okay because a grown up came with me.
When my mum and dad came to collect me I said this place is amazing, the best place I’ve ever been to in a festival. I think other children would like it, and I would like them to come to festivals and play with me. Pretty sweet, uh?
