Start September at the Pulse Festival

The one-day Pulse Festival has been set up with a clear purpose in mind – to raise money and awareness for the Children’s Heart Unit in Southampton.

The festival is organised by Mark Ward (heathward) and Olly Maw (Subgiant). Both have young children with congenital heart disease who have both had life saving treatment at the unit in Southampton.

They have secured Sunnyfields Organic Farm for a venue – you may have heard of their fruist and veg boxes or come across their wares at a farmer’s market. the farm will be providing organic catering on the day.

Organisers promise a “stellar lineup of bands and acts filling two live stages. It’s going to be a very eclectic mix of genres from newfolk to electro, cowpunk to indie, dub to triphop, acoustic twiddlings to electropunk.”

Our main outdoor stage will boast a top of the range sound system and light show, featuring festival favourites and the best of the local live scene throughout the day and late into the night. Acts include Pronghorn (pictured), Science of Eight Limbs and Subgiant. The cafe stage is where you will find the intricate, the fascinating and the sublime, and you’re invited to sit back and enjoy the sounds whilst grabbing a bite to eat and stocking up at the bar.

What about the children? Well, there are two kids’ areas, one for tinies and an activity-based tent for older children.

The organisers say: “The inspiration behind this festival is our own children and so it goes without saying that we are going to make sure that they have a great time. There will be all sorts for the children to do whilst you absorb the music.”

Sounds great and all for a good cause too! Kids get in free – adults just £12. More information here.
