My dear Jo
How I love the way you write. Having been to The Green Man once, you have sooooo captured the atmosphere, activities, live music opportunities and general fun feeling that the festival provides. An ace review. Love ya

I must say, I didn't know a great deal about The Green Man Festival, but after reading Jo's extremely informative & enjoyable review, it sounds like a great family festival, with a great deal going on alongside the music and enough to keep the children busy! Think I might start saving for the festival next year too.......!

Great article -Really captures how much was going on. There was loads for children including the slightly older ones - often a gap at other festivals. And the people were all so friendly and helpful, a very chilled festival.

Nice review Mike! Good to see you again, sorry we didn't make our group photo. Had a good day apart from the rain. Managed to miss the first torrential downpour while watching Charlie and Lola - a great show BTW. However we were unprepared (as usual) for the later downpours no buggy rain cover or water proof for James (2 year old). Briefly sheltered under a tree only to hear rumbles of thunder! So not the best place to stay. After getting thoroughly soaked headed off to Pizza Express to dry out before heading home.

The weather was unbelievable, every one was so wet that even with rain coats on, our T shirts and even under ware was soaked through! I was expecting much more of Pepper pig and Bob the builder, I saw lots of children arriving with pepper pig cuddly toys ect but pepper pig only made brief appearances to wave at the children behind bars! May be we have been spoilt with pepper pig world at Paultons Park?
It wasn't like Camp Bestival the previous week were you could pick a spot and sit down have a beer and take in a few performances, unless you were standing at the front of the tiny stage, you couldn't see any of the acts. This was a real shame because the kids really wanted to see Shrek etc and even with them on our shoulders they couldn't see. However I must note that we are not the tallest of parents! On a good note there was quite a lot of seating, toilets and food and the kids had a great time, in the press tent Tilly became addicted to a new spyro game that's to be released in October, every one was friendly and there was a good mix of people (not just yummy mummies as i was expecting!)and lots of smiles! If it hadn't rained so much we probably would have stayed for the whole day and enjoyed it much more!

It's a good point Joe, but as the activities were all free and there was loads of room for picnics, you could restrict it to ice creams or a t-shirt. I didn't have to reach for my wallet every five seconds and it's only a day festival - the same programme ran every day for 3 days. It did feel like the parents needed more for them, but it wasn't bad by any means.

sounds like hell. It's one thing to take the kids along to a proper festival, but what does this one offer the parents other than money-spending opportunities?
